چکیده

proved no significant findings, though cases of neutrophilia and leukopenia were detected. Conclusions: Limited resources, restricted participation from all the possible H1N1VI patients, thus biasing results due to small sample size; however, the obtained data is consistent with existing reports, nevertheless the information is not enough to establish standardized recommendations. Further collaboration among centers, is needed to identify features that can prompt H1N1VI early identification and prevention in pediatric population. SII = Stational Influenza infection; LS = lymphocyte subpoulations; CBC = Complete blood count, BCH (blood chemistry) = Includes levels of glucose, urea, creatinine, ALT, AST, CPK CPK-MB, amylase and lipase.

Assessment of biofilm by nasal cytology in different forms of rhinitis and its functional correlations.

BACKGROUND Recently, it has been reported that nasal cytology in light microscopy can identify biofilms, which appear as cyan-stained "Infectious Spots". We assessed by the same method and in the same population, the presence of biofilms in different nasal disorders, and estimated if a correlation with the functional grade of obstruction existed. METHODS Subjects suffering from different nasa...

Capsular Polysaccharide Interferes with Biofilm Formation by Pasteurella multocida Serogroup A

Pasteurella multocida is an important multihost animal and zoonotic pathogen that is capable of causing respiratory and multisystemic diseases, bacteremia, and bite wound infections. The glycosaminoglycan capsule of P. multocida is an essential virulence factor that protects the bacterium from host defenses. The link between rhinitis and rapid-eye-movement sleep breathing disturbances in children with obstructive sleep apnea

BACKGROUND Rhinitis and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) often coexist during childhood. To delineate this clinical association, we examined OSA severity and polysomnogram (PSG) features in children with rhinitis and OSA. Given that rapid-eye-movement (REM) sleep is characterized by nasal congestion, we hypothesized that children with rhinitis have more REM-related breathing abnormalities. METHO...
